Revitalizing our Relationships

Updated: May 11

Our relationships are the most rewarding aspects of our lives — and so when they get difficult, what approach can help us to revitalize them? In this post we share resources that help us to develop a better relationship with ourselves, each other, and the world.

Our relationship with ourselves

"Relationship" stems from the Latin relationem which means "a bringing back, restoring; a report, proposition.”

What we propose is the restoration of our trust in ourselves.

We can only trust others if we first trust ourselves.

Here are some resources on developing trust:

When we practice positive intent and grace, we reduce overthinking and invite others to reciprocate the same.

We smile and the neighbor smiles too. We begin to be vulnerable with others and they open up as well. We cultivate self-respect and we are respected. AND if we are not respected, we see it as an opportunity to practice our developed inner behavior - To act from a place of love and compassion for ourselves and for others.

Life is relationship-building

We don't have to all agree on everything, that's not the point of relating.

The point is to lead a more fulfilling life through our connections with one another.

The key is for us to better practice our communication. Resources in communication that we recommend are:

We hope these tools aid us all in coming closer together.

Allyship in the Process

We (Bryan & Marcelo) created the ÓS Guidebook to better identify and work towards our core values and aspirations through daily writing and self reflection.

Questions we asked ourselves were:

  1. What do I value the most right now?

  2. What do I wish to share with loved ones and why?

  3. What am I giving my energy and attention to?

We bring back into focus how valuable it is to lead a life in alignment with our values in mind and how precious our time together truly is!

  • Go for a walk with a friend and practice presence.

  • Connect with like-hearted and like-minded individuals.

  • Interview a parent / loved one; look beyond roles and see them as souls just like yourself.

Enter intelligently, sympathetically and understandingly into their consciousness and try to understand why they think as they do without a wish to change; only to understand.

Let us always meet anew.

Con amor,

Bryan G Olivas Orozco & Marcelo S. Villaseñor

We all have something to teach one another.
