How can we connect deeper with our inner self? We (Marcelo & Bryan) asked each other that question - We reflected on how journaling helps us to make space to listen to ourselves.
By writing consistently, we have also experienced the benefits of having an intention and seeing it blossom.
We concluded that writing is the best tool for processing and working through our thoughts and actions.
We identified 7 key benefits:
Writing brings clarity to our ideas and actions.
Writing allows us to develop the way we think.
Writing is good for our mental health:
it reduces stress
serves as an outlet for emotional expression
helps us to solve our problems
Journaling is a great way to nurture the process of our growth.
Note-taking during our conversations helps us remember key insights.
Using writing to develop our projects is key in keeping the momentum going.
Through the use of different modes of journaling we find what style of writing works for us and when. (ex: free-flow, bullet journaling, dream writing, lists of key questions, etc.)
Years ago, journaling led us to learn about the planets and create Órbita Semanal; a system of journaling that uses the planetary associations of the 7 days of the week to date our pages and empower our process.
We use the planetary symbols in our journaling to better learn, organize, and take action.
Starting with ÓS is simple.
The first step is to write the date -and its associated symbols- at the top of your page.
The Planets and their symbology help us to integrate the natural rhythms of life into our daily practice, and in turn, support our consistency in our reflection and action.
We can now use the questions within the ÓS Guidebook to support our intentions and momentum. Here are some suggestions on where to start:
Create your Life's Vision: Define the vision of what you value most and want to create. Begin to clarify your intention behind it and write down what key actions might need to occur next.
-or- explore what is intuitively asking to be looked at from within ourselves.
We believe that all living things strive for alignment with their cycles. As we understanding this, we see how critical it is to process, learn, and unlearn our inherited "operating systems". Writing is our most powerful tool for navigating this process and ultimately bringing our vision into a reality.
After years of study and refinement, we've created a method that helps us organize projects and develop our ideas: List what you're currently working on and what you wish to pursue. Prioritize them, focusing on the three most important actions you can take today. We also invite you to create your own symbols to help you create and identify your patterns of thought. Using ÓS in our journals, we organize our ideas and begin to come up with plans of action (& rest) based on the days and grander cycles. (moon & sun cycles)
Lastly, continue your practice through weekly reflections: Start over each Sunday (☉) by organizing your activities for the week. Follow the action-reflection cycle, as detailed in the ÓS Guide, and use the ÓS symbols to maintain your rhythm and structure. We invite you to take time on Saturdays (♄) to reflect on what was left undone and what has not been of any support to you.
Our favorite benefit are the long-term memories that we've been able to capture. The reason we are doing this is to create better relationships and improve alongside the cycle and patterns of nature. Learn more through our intro to the Guide:
We hope that this supports you in your practice. : )
